How Flash Delivers Seamless Streaming with Vimond's Video Solutions

Vimond to provide Core Content Modules and End-user Services in delivering the news service Flash into the Australian market

Flash is a first-of-its-kind news-only streaming service with more than 20 leading local and global news sources. Streamed live and on-demand, Flash is the most convenient way for Australians to stay informed and connected across a range of opinions, perspectives, and views.

From CNN International, Sky News Australia, BBC World News, or Al Jazeera, Flash allows Australians to control the newsfeed and watch the news they want when they want it.

With Flash, customers can benefit from a range of innovations including Personalisation, allowing users to follow the opinions, topics, and news that matter to them, and FlashLists, the ability to create and save stories to watch later.

Solution

The team who also built the ground-breaking Kayo Sports and BINGE streaming services, has again looked to Vimond to provide the Core Content Modules and End-user Services in delivering their new news service Flash into the Australian market. Vimond powers Flash’s Content Management, Content delivery and Personalisation features for the Service.

Using Vimond VIA, the Flash team can manage, organise, enrich their video content with metadata and publish it to the service at the right time.

The Vimond products and feature sets used by the Flash team service include:

VIA Video Content management module: Vimond’s user-friendly interface available via a web browser, provides the graphical interface access to all the Core products as well as the optional add-ons.

In Vimond VIA the Flash team is able to manage:

○       License Windows

○       Schedule publishing Content

○       Images with multiple locations

○       Related assets (linked asset relations) for relating extras and trailers and similar

○       Chapters and index points

VIA catalogue module - Lets the team organise content into a structured hierarchy that can be used both for content presentation on their front-end portals through content curation and for creating content packages with VIA monetise. The category tree can be deep or shallow (many versus few Subcategories), wide or narrow (many versus few top-level Categories).

VIA Monetise is used to manage products and content package access.

The curation module in VIA: helps the Flash editorial team promote featured content on the service. The team can easily organise content in carousels, menus and featured lists, and the user-friendly interface and advanced search options ensure that lists are quick to create and straightforward to manage.

The editorial team can also bookmark their favourite views to make regular adjustments even easier.

Flash also uses the following end-user services available through Vimond VIA:

●       Content Discovery

●       Play Service

●       Sub-profile Service

●       User Viewing History Service

●       Playlist service

Result

With the implementation and use of the Vimond VIA Platform, the team has been able to launch a first-of-its-kind dedicated live and on demand news streaming service that is delivering a new way to stay across news from around the world.
